Dear Family, Last week, we navigated the "High-Stakes Boardroom" of parenting teenagers with Jeanine Mouchawar. We talked about the vital shift from being the "Control Officer" to the "Consultant" as our grandchildren enter those turbulent adolescent years. We learned that the goal isn't to win the argument, but to keep the connection open. But what happens when that connection is sabotaged by the very thing that should be restorative—the night? I recently sat down for a second time with sleep expert Allison Egidi. We took a deep dive into the biological tripwires of trauma. We realized that being the Invisible CEO means auditing the very foundation of our home: the restorative sleep that allows a child's brain to actually process the hard things we discussed with Jeanine. The Raw Truth: The YouTube Babysitter I confess—I’ve been using YouTube as a nighttime babysitter. When you are an exhausted grandmother raising children for the second time, and your body is less flexible and your patience is thinner, you reach for the tools that stop the crying. I reached for the tablet so I could finally sit down for ten minutes.

But standing at the kitchen table last night, I realized the "quick fix" has become a survival-mode nightmare. I saw the blue light reflecting in my granddaughter’s eyes and the desperate urge she had to stay sucked into that digital world because, for her, the silence of the night feels dangerous. I realized I was afraid to change the rules because I didn't think I had the energy for the blowback.

I’m learning that my job isn't to avoid the tantrum; it's to reimprint their brains with stability. I have to be brave enough to set the boundary, even when I’m tired, because their healing depends on a biological foundation I am responsible for building.
Inside the Project: Episode 118 This Week’s Guest: Allison Egidi | The Sleep Infrastructure: Night Terrors and the Second Cradle In this episode, we move past the "basic mechanics" and into the high-stakes reality of trauma-impacted sleep. Allison explains the "Sleep Wave"—that narrow window where sleep is possible before the second wind of defiance kicks in. We discuss why a "Digital Detox" is often the executive decision we are most afraid to make, but the one that yields the highest return on our sanity. [🎧 LISTEN TO EPISODE #118: Allison Egidi] The Reflection RoomAllison reminded us that "Boredom is a biological sedative." Ask yourself today: Am I overstimulating my grandchildren because I’m afraid of their big feelings when the distractions stop? A CEO doesn't build a mission on a crumbling foundation. Are you willing to endure three days of "digital withdrawal" to buy back a lifetime of restorative rest? The Toolbox: Tactical Moves

Legacy Builders Connecting Hearts, Nurturing the Future Vol. 1, No. 90 | July 14, 2026 Dear Family, Last week, we sat with Katharine Giovanni and did some "Emotional Housekeeping." We talked about putting down the "purple cup" of resentment so our hands are finally free to hold our grandchildren. But this week, I have to get honest with you: it’s hard to hold anyone when your own arms are shaking from exhaustion. I recently sat down with Tamie Gangloff, an eating disorder expert and therapist...
Legacy Builders Connecting Hearts, Nurturing the Future Vol. 1, No. 89 | July 7, 2026 Dear Family, Last week, we sat with Matt O’Neill and dismantled the "Martyr’s Mask." We talked about how shifting from sacrifice to choice can make a 68-year-old grandmother feel like she’s 30 again. But even when we choose this life, there is often a "lead shield" we carry—a heavy, cold weight of resentment toward the people who left us with the wreckage. I recently welcomed back Katharine Giovanni, author...
Legacy Builders Connecting Hearts, Nurturing the Future Vol. 1, No. 88 | June 30, 2026 Dear Family, Last week, we opened the door to the "Biological Alarm" with Allison Egidi. We talked about how trauma rewires a child’s motherboard and why catching the "Sleep Wave" is a non-negotiable for a stable home. But what happens when the sun comes up, the coffee is cold, and the sink is full of dishes? I recently sat down for a heart-to-heart with Matt O’Neill, author of Good Mood Revolution. This...
