🌟 Episode Spotlight: The Grandma System for Resilience
Episode 91: The Making of a Winged Hero and The Grandmother That Raised Him
Last week, we talked about the raw truth of the Grandparent Paradox. This week, we pivot to inspiration and proof of the incredible, life-changing power you have as a grandparent.
We are honored to welcome back Lyubim Kogan—five-time first-generation immigrant, 9/11 survivor, and founder of the powerful organization, Wings4Heroes.org, which helps amputee veterans rebuild their lives.
Lyubim's story of resilience is truly remarkable, but he credits his entire success—and his ability to thrive through trauma—to one person: His Grandmother.
This episode is a masterclass in effective, resourceful caregiving, no matter your resources. Lyubim reveals the core principles of his "Grandma System," a blueprint for raising resilient children that any grandparent can implement:
- Leading Without a System: Discover how his grandmother instilled resourcefulness, discipline, and stability when they had no money, no social network, and no applause.
- Thriving Through Trauma: Lyubim shares how his grandmother's rock-solid foundation allowed him to not only survive the trauma of 9/11 but to transform it into a world-changing mission.
- The Power of Stability: Understand why your consistent love and routine are the ultimate superpower that shields a child from external chaos.
If you ever doubt the impact you are making in your grandchild's life, listen to this episode. Lyubim is living proof that your effort is building a hero.

🎄 Joyful Updates: Holding onto the Quiet Magic
Dear Friends,
As the calendar pages turn to the middle of December, there’s a unique mixture of emotions in our homes. The air is starting to hum with holiday energy, but for those of us raising grandchildren, that hum often comes with extra layers of complexity—and extra exhaustion.
This week, reflecting on Lyubim Kogan’s incredible story in Episode 91, I was reminded that the most powerful systems we build aren’t made of money or applause; they are built on resourcefulness, discipline, and stability. This is the true gift we give our grandchildren.
As you navigate the flurry of Christmas preparation—the decorations, the budgeting, the scheduling—I want to encourage you to hold onto the quiet magic you create every single day.
You are not just planning Christmas; you are building a foundation. You are providing a consistent, loving anchor that allows these children to experience the joy of the season without the anxiety of instability.
Please remember to grant yourself grace. This holiday is about presence, not perfection. It’s about creating one steady, beautiful memory that your grandchildren will carry with them for decades. That, my friends, is the most profound legacy.
Wishing you quiet strength and genuine joy as we head into the season.
With love and gratitude,
Laura Brazan
