Podcast Spotlight
Parenting educator and author- Richard O'Keef.

As many of you know, I'm raising two incredible grandchildren. Their early years were challenging, having been marked by the absence of their father, who struggles with drug addiction and just keeping a job, and their mother, who has been in and out of jail. It's a tough path, and one you wouldn't wish on any child.
In my heart, I want nothing more than to see them grow into confident, responsible adults who steer clear of the patterns that have affected their parents. While we can't predict every choice they'll make, and there's no foolproof method to shield them entirely from their struggles, I am committed to doing everything possible to set them on a better path.
That's why I'm particularly excited about this week's guest, Richard O'Keef. Join us in this compelling episode as we dive into the insights of this parenting trailblazer, who reveals the secrets to keeping your kids off drugs and out of jail through his transformative "4 Emotional Needs" framework. Richard's groundbreaking approach isn't just theoretical—it's changing lives, inside and outside prison walls, by empowering parents to build unshakeable bonds with their children.
Explore his latest insights from "911: What Is Your Parenting Emergency" and discover why his mission aims to revolutionize parenting much like The 5 Love Languages did for relationships. When people like Richard speak, I listen closely. He brings with him not just a wealth of experience but a truly groundbreaking approach to parenting that has shown real, tangible results. His insights could be the key to transforming the way we connect with and guide the younger generation in our lives.
Whether you're a parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent like Richard himself, this episode promises to inspire and guide you toward fostering confident, responsible young individuals. So buckle up as we delve into Richard's fascinating journey and learn from his innovative framework. Let's discover together how we can foster healthier, stronger connections with our children and work towards a future that holds promise and potential, no matter the challenges we face.

Joyful Updates
We’re going places! Our podcast has reached some milestones since we launched in June and more…

This past week has been a journey of reflection and celebration, intertwined with personal milestones and the spirit of community. I've embarked on a Lent devotional focused on "letting go" and deepening my faith, which has arrived at a pivotal moment in my life. My husband and I are considering moving from our current home, as it no longer meets our needs after taking on guardianship of our grandchildren. It's a period laden with uncertainty, amidst a stalled real estate market, looming economic challenges, and our financial considerations as we approach our 70s.
In the midst of these challenges, International Women's Day shone as a beacon of light and strength. Although I couldn't physically join the incredible women of IWD406 in celebration, I was there in spirit—celebrating the power and resilience of women everywhere. As I engaged in my calming ritual of bread-baking, I honored the day and the women who inspire me, including those on Blacktail Mountain reveling in the joy and unity of the day.
Thanks to Karen Dittman's invitation to her Lent devotional on "Letting Go," I am learning to gradually release the burden of trying to control every facet of our lives. A quiet, persistent voice reminded me to place my trust in God, whose guidance is unwavering, even when the path appears unclear. This journey of surrender has not been swift, but it is providing a profound sense of peace, affirming my belief that God is working in our favor.
These experiences have highlighted the significance of celebrating the journey and each small victory along the way. Reflecting on these moments makes me realize the strength found in embracing struggle, learning to let go, and valuing the support of our vibrant community and my faith.
To all the incredible women I know, and those I have yet to meet, I honor our collective strength and resilience. To my fellow grandmothers, nurturing a brighter future for their grandchildren, I hear you and stand with you. As women devoted to raising the next generation, may this Lenten season inspire us to release what holds us back and focus on building a brighter future alongside our grandchildren.
Best,
